Building Foundations for Families

Let's Build Together

Kent Attainable Housing partners with low income families to build a home that they can afford to buy.    We make it possible for families who cannot afford the fair market rates of rental housing to buy a home and start building equity, thereby taking their first step out of poverty.

A single mom of four children shares …

“I just don’t feel like I have one place where I can call home any more.  And I want that for my children.  I don’t want them to have to worry because they didn’t ask for this life. They didn’t ask to be born in Kent County.  They need to have somewhere to come to when there is nowhere else to go. I just want that for them. A stable environment, a stable home for them.”

Giving Tuesday is December 3 and gives us a chance to ask you for help in providing homes for more families like this single mom. Your donation makes a huge difference for families in need of stable and affordable housing.

Kent Attainable Housing, Inc. has heard many local parents talk about the same desire to have a stable home for their children, and our mission is to make ownership of a safe, decent, and affordable home possible for low-income families.

We will soon complete construction of our first energy efficient, three bedroom, two story home in downtown Chestertown.  Its design and engineering will be a model for the 30 properties we expect to build over the next decade.  Each family who purchases one of these properties will begin to enjoy the benefits of home ownership – permanency and stability – along with the opportunity to build equity and community wealth.Click edit button to change this text.

Whatever success Kent Attainable Housing, Inc. enjoys is not accidental.  Nor is it magic.  We rely on the engagement and generosity of our neighbors and friends like you.  Volunteers are designing our model, researching the law, surveying properties, recruiting and qualifying applicants, doing our books, and soon will be building and landscaping.

Now we are asking you to consider a tax-deductible donation to support our families.  Immediate needs for our first property include
$1000 for a front porch, $600 for a front porch roof, $600 for a garden shed, $800 for a rear deck and $400 for a front fence, to name a few. And soon we will moving to buying land for our next homes.

Your donation makes it possible for us to build homes that low income families can afford.
