KENT ATTAINABLE HOUSING (KAH) SEEKING EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
ROLE OVERVIEW
Kent Attainable Housing (KAH) is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our efforts to expand access to home ownership. Our next Executive Director (ED) will have an extraordinary opportunity for career growth as KAH scales our impact. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, position located in Chestertown, Maryland reporting to the Board of Directors, with a competitive salary, paid holidays, and three weeks of paid vacation. Flexibility is required to accommodate meetings and events outside business hours. Our ED will be supported by a Program Coordinator, a volunteer Construction Leader, a volunteer Treasurer/CFO, and an advisor with experience successfully running an affordable housing agency. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The KAH Executive Director (ED) will be responsible for the successful execution of our strategy, with particular emphasis on fundraising, stewardship, and program operations. Our ED will partner with the Board to set priorities and will be supported by a Program Coordinator and a group of enthusiastic volunteers.
Board Partnership & Strategic Planning
Partner with the Board to set strategy and co-lead our strategic planning and budgeting processes.
Collaborate with the Board to create, staff and maintain a robust Board committee structure.
Assist the Board President and Governance Committee in the recruitment of new Board members.
Resource Stewardship & Development
Partner with volunteer and professional grant writers to identify, solicit, and steward new and existing grants that further the KAH mission. Maintain a positive relationship with granting organizations.
Develop and execute a robust fundraising strategy in partnership with the Board that includes major gift solicitation, corporate partnerships, gifts-in-kind, annual giving, direct mail, and fundraising events.
Manage our fundraising data and lead our donor recruitment, acknowledgement and stewardship.
Marketing & Communications
Represent KAH at internal and external meetings and events with community partners, funders, and public officials. Serve as the face of KAH in the community, increasing credibility and brand recognition.
Create and manage a robust communications plan that includes cross-platform social media growth, regular email newsletters, and press releases that build our brand and support fundraising efforts.
Plan and execute local advocacy campaigns in collaboration with the Board and volunteers.
Program Management & Operations
Manage our homeowner application, selection, coaching, and home sale processes in collaboration with Board, staff, and volunteers. Ensure excellent data management and adherence to standard procedures.
Provide oversight to our portfolio of construction and land acquisition projects, ensuring compliance with grants, budgets, and timelines in collaboration with our agent, contractors, and volunteers.
Oversee the administrative and day-to-day operations of KAH including scheduling, logistics, coordination, event planning, payroll, insurance, IT, data management and adherence to budget.
Supervise the work of KAH staff and contractors, and coordinate, recruit, and recognize our volunteers.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

You have at least 5 years of experience in nonprofit operations, program management, or fundraising.

IDEAL COMPETENCIES

Proven track-record of fundraising and, grant writing and/or grant administration.
Experience working in the field of housing and community development.
Success as an Executive Director or have experience working with a Board of Directors.
ABOUT KAH
Kent Attainable Housing is breaking the cycle of poverty in Kent County, Maryland through home ownership. We collaborate with volunteers, staff, and community partners to build, purchase, and renovate affordable homes, and support income-limited working families through the home buying process. Established in 2019, KAH completed its first home sale in 2022 and is on-track to provide home ownership opportunities to at least four additional families in the next 18 months.
